Family tradition and wines of origin.
A story that springs from the land, crosses generations, and transforms into wine with soul.
The beginning of a legacy (1995)
In 1995, on Line 80 of Leopoldina, Monte Belo do Sul, the dream of winemaker Antoninho Ademir Calza began to take shape. Son of Angélico and Lourdes, Antoninho started the winery by vinifying grapes from his own vines, producing bulk wines that carried the essence of the territory and the care of an entirely family-run operation.
The early years were marked by simplicity, dedication, and the certainty that the story being born there would go far beyond the small structure of a small, artisanal winery.
Over time, Antoninho's vision evolved into something even greater: transforming that intimate, manual work into wines that carried with them the strength of the Calza family. Each harvest brought the winery closer to its purpose: bottles that carried soul, origin, and truth.
From the family home to the world (2001 – 2003)
In 2001, the winery took its first major leap, beginning the production of fine bottled wines: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Tannat. The two thousand bottles produced were personally delivered to consumers, directly to the Calza family home, creating a close and welcoming relationship that continues to this day.
Shortly after, in 2003, the winery's first sparkling wines were born, expressing the unique terroir of Monte Belo do Sul, recognized worldwide for its excellence in grapes destined for sparkling wines.
With each bottle, the conviction grew stronger that Calza's identity was intrinsically linked to the land, the climate, the hands that cultivate it, and the tradition that is perpetuated in the region.
Recognition of the territory (2010)
In 2010, Vinícola Calza and eleven other producers from Monte Belo do Sul earned the Geographical Indication (GI), a certification that validates the unique characteristics of the wines produced in the municipality. With grapes such as Tannat, Chardonnay, Merlot, and Italian Riesling, as well as a native yeast selected with the support of Embrapa, the GI consolidated Monte Belo as a unique terroir in Brazil.
This achievement elevated the Calza family's work to the level of controlled origin, reinforcing that each bottle expresses unique characteristics of the Vinhedos region.
IP has become more than just a seal: it has become a guarantee of authenticity, traceability, and a commitment to excellence.
